'People are intimidated' - the reasons 'unstoppable force' Arsenal are the side to defeat.

There's little doubt why Arsenal are now countless pundits' preferred choice to win the Premier League this season.

Examine their performances against Fulham and Crystal Palace compared to those identical matches last season.

The Gunners have overcome all of them this time around, but dropped 10 points across those games as they dropped off in the title race previously.

Defensive Strength

Arsenal's backline resilience is a crucial element why they are looking well positioned to finally fulfil their title target.

They stand first for unbreached games (6), goals conceded (3), opposition efforts (72), dangerous chances allowed (19) and anticipated concessions (5.3).

The central defensive pairing of Gabriel and William Saliba is possibly the best in the league, with Arsenal recording a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Set-Piece Proficiency

Their effectiveness from free kicks is highly documented, but competing clubs still find it difficult to contain the Gunners from these opportunities.

They have registered 11 times from set-pieces in the league, two more than any other side, with 69% of their goals coming from these situations.

"Arsenal can excel in various aspects now. The whole team has a intimidation presence. People are just afraid of them and it is great to see."

Championship Pedigree

What is particularly notable about Arsenal's beginning to the campaign is they have also encountered Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United away from home and Manchester City on home turf - and are still ahead by four points at the top.

While they continue triumphing, their historic competitors face difficulties. This marks the initial occasion at this point of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on boss Mikel Arteta at the start, having invested around £250m on eight summer acquisitions in search of that long-awaited first title since 2004.

But the spending has so far proven successful in impressive fashion, with his side second top scorers in the league and boasting the tightest defense, despite several injuries.

  • Clean sheets in three straight Premier League games
  • Over six hours without allowing a goal
  • Only a handful of concessions in 12 games across every tournament

Former players and pundits have labeled Arteta's men as a "powerhouse, looking challenging to stop" with the whole club now functioning with belief and purpose.
